The Town Hall became a symbol of the town self-rule. It is located in a house in the square gifted by Charles IV. to the town in 1378. The town hall was newly built after a destroying fire in the years 1795 - 96 and adapted in Pseudorenaissance style in 1840.There is a star on the top of the town hall symbolizing the close connection with the Hussite ideals - the star is a symbol of Slaný, the sun stands for the town of Žatec and the moon for the town of Louny.

The Trinitarian Church - originally Protestant, built in the years 1581 - 1602 on one of former town places of execution called Golgata, was ravaged in 1623. In the years 1655 - 1662 a monastery was added to it, the church was renewed and the Loreta Chapel was built inside. At present it is the seat of the monastic order of Barefoot White Friars who have returned back to our country after 200 years and live not only in Slaný but also in Prague.

Former college of Piarists, founded in 1658, rebuilt in 1877 for use of the Grammar school of Slaný, nowadays the seat of the municipal Library and The Museum of the National History. The foundation stone of the college was laid on April19th 1659 on the place of destroyed houses in the square. The Chapel of Virgin Mary´s engagement was consecrated on November 11th 1666.

In 1230s a considerable part of the settlement came to the possession of the Benedictine Monastery in Ostrov near Davle. At that time a small early medieval St. Gothard Church with one nave was built. Its foundations have been covered by the presbytery of today´s late-Gothic Church cosecrated to the same saint. The location of the temple on the strategic disadvantageous place above morass resulted in the necessity of the fortification of that part of town.

The best preserved house of the Renaissance buildings in Slaný is the house No.14, so called Modletický house at the crossing of the streets Vinařického and Štechova. The building with an oriel at the corner has a stone portal with date 1587 and inicials SW. The stone statue of St. Jan Nepomucký with two angels was placed onto the portal in the baroque period.

A building built in 1902 in the Modern Renaissance style in the Wilsonova Street - called Okresní dům. The building has been designed by architect Jan Vejrych, sculptor Antonín Popp participated in sculpture decoration of the interior. In the past it was a seat of district authorities of the district of Slaný.

In 1881 the Building of Local Credit Union No. 518 arose at the corner of the Wilsonova Street according to the project of local architect Rudolf Štech. The frontage has been decorated with colour sgraffiti of allegorical figures of Economy and Thrift made by A. Hofbauer according to the sketch of a mural by Mikoláš Aleš.

Only one gate - Velvarská Gate - has been preserved from original four gates of the town fortification - Pražská, Lounská, Velvarská and Fortna. The Velvarská gate decorated with stone provincial and noble coats of arms and signs of guilds dates back to the year 1461. It has been rebuilt for several times during its existence, namely after a fire in 1637 and for the last time then during the reconstruction of the road to the town of Zlonice.

Only the Black Bastion has remained from the north fortification and the Velvarská Gate is the only gate which has been preserved up to now. Nowadays the Black Bastion has been reconstructed and brought into use of Scout Organization of Slaný. Thanks to that fact it is in a very good condition, including adjoining spaces.
